Furniture Assembly Guide

Don’t be intimidated by furniture assembly - with a little common sense, patience and basic tools you’ll have your furniture assembled and in pride of place in no time.

1. Preparation

Read the assembly instructions fully, regardless of how straightforward the task may seem. Understanding the full instructions will help you avoid making mistakes later on.

Clear a space where you can lay out all the parts, fittings and tools needed for assembly. Having sufficient space will allow you to check and organise these, making these easier to find during assembly.

Check that you have the instructions, all the parts and fittings, and the correct tools. If there are missing instructions, parts or fittings please contact us directly. Don’t proceed without the correct tools either, as using the wrong tools can damage parts or make assembly more difficult.

Important:

- Furniture / furniture parts can be heavy and awkward to lift or move, so always ensure someone is available to help move things safely before, during and after assembly. Use proper lifting techniques to avoid strain or injury.

- Do not drag furniture / furniture parts (boxed or unboxed) across the floor, as this may damage the product and the floor.

- Ensure you protect the product during assembly. This is especially important with table tops which must be protected at all times. They should be placed carefully on a blanket or suitable surface that will not scratch or damage the finish.

- The use of power tools is not recommended, as their use can lead to overtightening, causing damage to the furniture or problems with alignment.

2. Assembly

Follow the instructions methodically, working step by step. Ensure you’re using the correct parts and fittings for each stage. Take your time and resist the temptation to skip ahead, as mistakes or improperly secured parts may compromise the stability and safety of the furniture once assembled.

Be careful not to mix up parts and fittings. With similar looking parts and fittings, it’s easy to get these mixed up and use the wrong one. To avoid this, sort all parts and fittings according to the instructions so that you use the right ones at the right time.

If you make a mistake during assembly, don't panic - we’ve all been there. Refer back to the instructions and try to identify where the issue occurred to correct your mistake.

Once again, keep it safe when handling heavy and awkward furniture before, during and after assembly - get help and use proper lifting techniques to avoid strain or injury.

Important:

One of the most common mistakes is overtightening screws, which can strip the threads or damage the furniture. Use a hand tool instead of a power tool for better control.
